Biographical Summary	Jessie W. Davis, born and raised in Punta Gorda, was killed in action on September 19, 1944 in an Allied militry opertion during the Second Word War. He never returned to his hometown. He was posthumously awarded the purple heart and is buried in Ardeenes American Cemetery in Belgium. He had worked in the commericial fishing industry for the Punta Gorda Fish Company before entering the service in 1942.
